Nick Tsiopanas, President

Mr. Nick Tsiopanas has 17 years of business and information technology (IT) consulting experience, during which he has led initiatives in multiple industries and disciplines. His experience includes working with both government and private sector clients on various engagements, from IT strategy, sourcing, and acquisition to business transformation and technology implementations.

Prior to founding ZYGOS Consulting in January 2011, Mr. Tsiopanas was a Director with Gartner, Inc., the world's largest research and advisory firm for information technology products and services.  Mr. Tsiopanas was responsible for Gartner’s consulting relationship with its two largest US Army clients. Mr. Tsiopanas led business development and consulting delivery activities and established a reputation for outstanding delivery that led to numerous follow-on projects. Prior to Gartner, Mr. Tsiopanas spent ten years with Ernst & Young LLP (now Capgemini), starting as a Consultant in June 1996 and leaving as a Senior Manager in September 2006.  While at Ernst & Young, Mr. Tsiopanas focused on business transformation and technology implementations for major corporations such as AT&T, Staples and Bank of America.  After seven years of working with commercial clients, Mr. Tsiopanas transitioned to the Capgemini Government practice, where he assisted the Army with its business transformation efforts.  Mr. Tsiopanas led development of a transformation governance framework and made significant contributions to defining performance measures for the Army scorecard.

Mr. Tsiopanas enjoys working as a trusted advisor with his clients and helping them make critical decisions based on rigorous analysis and direct experience. His recent engagements include conducting an Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) on contracting strategies and developing a capability maturity model to assess technologies’ viability in the US Army Common Operating Environment. Mr. Tsiopanas has also supported numerous acquisitions for OSD and the US Army, including coordination between the program office and the contracting office, development of key acquisition deliverables, and acting in the capacity of technical advisor to the source selection evaluation board.

Mr. Tsiopanas earned a bachelor of science degree in Management Science and Information Technology from Virginia Tech. He is a Project Management Institute certified Project Management Professional (PMP®).
